The State Government of Victoria has announced compulsory Three-Year-Old Kindergarten, with the roll-out beginning in 2020.

What Three-Year-Old Kindergarten means for Victoria
The Victorian Government is investing almost $5 billion over the next decade to deliver 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten a week.
The largest social, economic and educational reform in Early Childhood Education in Victoria’s history will bring new opportunities.
Currently, kindergarten programs for three-year-olds in cost families in Victroia around $5,000 a year for 15 hours a week. Some families can’t afford sending their kids to kindergarten.
With the introduction of the reform, around one quarter of Victorian families will pay nothing for sessional kindergartens.
For families with a higher income, the Victorian Government will cover around two-thirds of the kindergarten costs.
The commitment
The Victorian government invests $881.6 million in the roll-out of the Three-Year-Old Kindergarten programme and it invests $92.4 million to support the early childhood workforce through more professional development, mentoring and financial support so children have access to highly trained teachers and educators.
